Flaxseed for Omega Fields is contracted for and purchased from northern Canadian producers. Because of the rich soil and short, intense growing season, the flaxseed from northern Canada contains a higher percentage of Omega-3 than other flaxseeds. Our high quality standards also mean that we reject more seed than we accept. The rejected, inferior seed is sold to other companies.
Shelf Life of 18 Months
The powerful nutrients in Omega Horseshine are locked in and guaranteed stable for 18 months with no signs of rancidity or loss of nutritional value. Typically, flax is not a stable product once ground. But over 25 years ago, our company developed what is now proprietary stabilization technology to provides a stable, fortified flaxseed composition as a safe source of highly concentrated Omega-3s in the diet, that can also be stored for a long time. Our stabilization process is all natural, no chemicals used, and the ground flax is kosher certified. Still it is best if stored in a cool, dry place.
How much Horseshine do you need?
The recommended feeding directions for the average 1000-1200lb horse is 1/2-1 cup daily. This can be adjusted based on weight, deficiency or activity level to achieve desired results. For active or performance horses, we recommend feeding 1-3 cups daily, dependent on body weight.
When feeding Omega Horseshine to one horse at the recommended 1/2 cup serving per day, here’s what you’ll get out of the 3 sizes offered:
4.5lb bags = approximately 1 month supply
20lb bags = approximately 100 daily servings (just over 3 months)
45lb bags = approximately 8 month supply
If you’re feeding 1 cup per day:
4.5lb bags = approximately 1/2 month supply
